Exhibitions for 2012Our most recent exhibition ‘Marlow’s Railway - the Marlow Donkey’ was at the end of 2011, and we had over 1,000 visitors to the museum during its run. We are currently planning a number of exhibitions for the 2012. These include ‘Marlow’s local Churches’ and ‘ Royalty and Marlow’. Tying into the 2012 Olympics, and in conjunction with local sports clubs, we plan an exhibition of ‘Marlow’s Sporting Champions’ Finally, ’Marlow’s Brewery’. Ray Evans has just brought out a book on the subject and he has agreed to work with us on an exhibition. |
Help NeededWe need to ’train up’ a few more Duty Managers, a grand title but it simply involves opening up, supervising and closing at the end of the day. Any Volunteers? We are without a Chairman, since original chair John Evans moved out of the area.. Someone to steer the ship, keep us in line and motivated plus as a charity, legal and proper. Know a suitable candidate? We need a Stewarding Coordinator. A person to keep the roster full, to find new Stewards, brief them and to ensure any gaps due to illness, holidays, etc, are quickly filled. Suit you? You need a phone/mobile and we give you a list to get you started. |
Our premises
After fifteen years of searching for a premises, and being priced out of several, the Project has taken on an affordable lease of a building in by Wycombe District Council. (The building was previously called ‘The Peacock Room’ after Thomas Love Peacock, poet, author and friend of Shelley, who lived at 47 West St, Marlow.) The Room is a free-standing, single storey, ground floor building with walls of brick and glass. It is situated in a very busy position in Higginson Park, between the Pound Lane Car Park and the main entrance to Court Garden Leisure Centre, and is linked to the latter by a roofed walkway (See map below)
